Littlehampton Wave Café upgrade will boost visitor experience
Arun District Council is delighted to announce an exciting upgrade to the café area at Littlehampton Wave, thanks to funding secured through Section 106 contributions. The project completed last week has transformed the popular café space to better serve the centre's growing number of visitors.
The upgrade increases the seating capacity from 40 to 70, creating a more welcoming and versatile environment for families, fitness enthusiasts, and social groups.
The redesign includes new tables, chairs, and bench seating, offering flexibility for parties and community gatherings. The improvements also feature an enhanced layout and outside seating options, ensuring the café remains a vibrant hub for leisure and wellbeing.
Littlehampton Wave attracts an average of 80,000 visitors per month, with peak times seeing over 60 participants in aqua aerobics classes and hundreds of parents spectating swimming lessons. The current seating provision often falls short, leading to customer dissatisfaction and missed opportunities for the café. By expanding and modernising the space, the centre aims to keep visitors on-site longer, improving customer experience and supporting local community engagement.
Councillor Carol Birch, Chair of the Housing and Wellbeing Committee at Arun District Council, said: “This upgrade is a direct response to customer feedback and usage trends. By creating a more comfortable and versatile café space, we're not only improving the visitor experience but also supporting community wellbeing and participation.”
