Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan phase 2 consultation
Arun District Council is creating a Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) with the support of Ethos consultants to improve safety and ease of active travel movement in the district.
In short, an LCWIP is a long-term plan which identifies where improvements are needed to support active travel and would be supported.
This phase 2 consultation invites residents, community groups, businesses and other stakeholders to review and comment on the draft LCWIP. The phase 2 consultation asks for your views on the proposed network of prioritised walking, wheeling and cycling routes across Arun.
Potential improvements will be designed to make active travel safer, more direct and more attractive for everyday journeys are identified.
This follows the phase 1 consultation, in which Arun residents were consulted to better understand the daily experiences and challenges in active travel. Their feedback helped considerably to inform the draft LCWIP.
To ensure the LCWIP reflects local needs, the phase 2 includes several stages of public and stakeholder engagement, with drop-in events from 6 to 11 July (see below)
Councillor Gill Yeates, Chair of the Planning Policy Committee said:
“We want to make it easier and safer for people across Arun to walk, wheel and cycle as part of their everyday journeys. This draft Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan sets out a clear, long-term vision for improving connections across the district, informed by what residents told us during our first phase of engagement.
“We're now asking our communities, businesses and stakeholders to take a closer look at the proposed routes and improvements and share their feedback. Your views are essential in helping us shape a network that is practical, inclusive and works for everyone. I would encourage people to complete the online survey or attend one of our drop-in sessions in July to have their say.”
The consultation runs from Monday 29 June to Sunday 9 August 2026. Project: Arun Local Cycling & Walking Infrastructure Plan | Ethos Consultants
