New council housing build begins

building site Building work has begun on two new council houses in Bognor Regis.

Arun District Council and contractors, Brymor Construction, are working together on the four bedroom properties, located on the Glenlogie site, Clarence Road Bognor Regis.

These properties will be the first new council homes to be built in the district for over 20 years and will help the Council to provide affordable homes for local people.

The Council is building a total of 33 new affordable homes which will be available for rent over the next two years. Wick in Littlehampton will see 22 new homes built and nine new-build homes have been purchased in Barnham and will be available later this year.

Cllr Trevor Bence, Cabinet Member for Housing said, “We are pleased to have made a start on these new homes and have more in the pipeline. We hope to be able to recycle more funds from the right to buy process to enable us to provide more homes for the many people in the District on our waiting list who cannot afford to buy or rent from the private sector.”
