Three of our Councillors at an outdoor playground around a wheelchair-accessible swing. The swing is enclosed with safety rails and signage indicating it is an inclusive “Ability Swing.” Colourful playground surfacing and residential buildings are visible in the background. Banner at the bottom reads ‘New inclusive play equipment at Lion’s Den,’ with the Arun District Council logo. We're delighted to share that a new wheelchair-accessible swing has been installed at Lion's Den play area in Littlehampton.

Arun District Council's Chairman, Councillor Freddie Tandy, was joined by Cllr Amanda Worne and Cllr Billy Blanchard-Cooper earlier today to see the new swing in place.

The swing sits on new rubber safety surfacing, with additional rubber pathways to improve access across the site, helping more children and families enjoy the space together.

The project was supported by £30,000 of Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding, awarded to help deliver more inclusive play opportunities in the district.

Designed by GL Jones Ltd, the swing allows wheelchair users to access the equipment independently and can be opened using a RADAR key.
