Have your say on Littlehampton Town Centre’s design

Design plans to improve publically owned spaces in Littlehampton Town Centre, which include paving, seating, lighting and planting are currently on display.

Arun District Council is inviting comments and suggestions through a public consultation where your ideas may be incorporated into the next phase of the design process.

An exhibition where the plans will be on display takes place from 10am to 2pm on Thursday, 5 May, Friday, 6 May and Saturday, 7 May at Hunnies Café and Lounge, 72 High Street, Littlehampton.

There is an opportunity to meet the project team to find out more about the plans.

Councillor Mrs Gillian Brown, Leader of Arun District Council and Cabinet Member for Council Strategy, said: “This exhibition will provide an opportunity for residents and visitors to Littlehampton and the wider Arun District to see for themselves the initial ideas under consideration.

“However, I am sure there are ideas out there that the Council hasn’t yet thought of so I would urge as many people as possible to complete the consultation survey.”

The Council is working with landscape architects LDA Design, who have produced the outline plans following a series of focus groups with stakeholders including community groups, local businesses and Town, District and County Councillors. These plans will form part of the consultation.

The deadline for comments for the public consultation is Sunday, 15 May.

You can have your say by completing an online survey which you can access by visiting the Littlehampton regeneration page. Alternatively, you can collect a questionnaire from reception at Arun Civic Centre in Maltravers Road, Littlehampton, where design plans will be available to view.

Once the consultation has been completed, the Council will review the findings with LDA Design to then produce detailed design plans. These plans will be discussed at the Littlehampton Regeneration Sub Committee on Wednesday, 6 July 2016.Once agreed the Council and its partners will need to use the design and its cost plan to secure the necessary external funding to carry out the works.
