Summer safety - arrive, prepare, protect!
Over the weekend, our Beach Patrol responded to 42 lost or missing children and vulnerable adults, along with 5 water rescues at First Bay in Littlehampton alone.
Let's work together to keep everyone safe while enjoying the sunshine.
Before you set off: Remember to pack:
- sun hats
- UV protection cream
- a parasol or shade if you have one
When you arrive:
- head straight to the Beach Patrol Office on the promenade and ask for a FREE child safety wristband
- write your contact number on it
- secure it to your child's wrist
- take a photo of your child so you can describe what they're wearing
let them know they can go to the Beach Patrol Office if they need help (all staff are DBS checked)
During your visit:
- reapply sun cream regularly, especially after swimming
- stay hydrated - there's a free drinking water tap outside the Beach Patrol Office
If you need help our Beach Patrol staff are First Aid trained and ready to assist. Please visit the Beach Patrol Office if you feel unwell or have an injury.
And finally - please take your rubbish home and leave the beach clean for the next person.
