SWEP activation update – 13 February 2026
Arun District Council has activated its Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) from 7pm, Friday 13 February until 7am Monday 16 February. This is due to the predicted 'feels like' temperatures for the next few nights.
All rough sleepers in Arun who have no alternative option during this period can access a SWEP bed if they want to.
For more information on how to access SWEP, rough sleepers should call Arun's Housing Options Team on 01903 737552 or go to the Civic Centre Littlehampton, between 9am and 4pm on Friday for an assessment of needs and an instant referral into SWEP. Clients will then be given details of where and how to access that night.
Those who need to access the service outside of these hours will need to contact the out of hours team on 01903 737500 for a referral and information on how/where to get help. They will receive a hot meal, drinks, and snacks, along with shower and washing facilities. They will also get support in seeking longer term accommodation options.
