Trick or Treating? Keep these 'lucky 13' safety tips in mind
Heading out for some Halloween fun? Whether you're a tiny pumpkin, a wicked witch or a friendly ghost, these 'lucky 13 - spooktacular safety tips' will help make sure your night is full of treats and no tricks.
Little monsters need a grown-up
Younger children should always be accompanied by a parent, carer or responsible adult.
Stick together
Older children should trick-or-treat in a group, plan their route in advance and let someone at home know where they're going.
Look for the Halloween welcome
Only knock on doors that have Halloween decorations or pumpkins on display.
Respect those sitting it out
Please don't disturb houses displaying 'No Trick-or-Treaters' signs or homes with no decorations.
Stay on the doorstep
Never go inside a stranger's home. Collect treats at the door and move on.
Be bright at night
Carry a torch, glow sticks or wear reflective items so you can be seen easily.
Cross roads safely
Always use safe crossing points where possible and never cross between parked cars.
Watch out for vehicles
Take extra care near driveways and junctions, especially in the dark.
Walk, or slither - don't run
Excitement is great, but rushing can lead to trips, slips and tumbles.
Check your costume fits
Make sure costumes, capes and masks don't restrict movement or vision.
Keep props soft and safe
Choose flexible costume accessories to help prevent accidents.
Check treats before eating
Wait until a trusted adult has checked sweets and treats before tucking in.
Have a fang-tastic time!
Be kind, be respectful and enjoy a safe and spooky Halloween!
Happy Halloween from everyone at Arun District Council!
