December 2019 General election
The next UK Parliamentary General Election is taking place on Thursday 12 December 2019.
Arun District Council will be administering the election for one Parliamentary Constituency – Bognor Regis & Littlehampton.
To be able to vote you must be registered. If you are not already registered, please register to vote on GOV.UK. You must register by Tuesday 26 November 2019.
Once you are registered, you can choose how you will cast your vote. You may do this in person in the polling station, or by post, or ask someone to vote on your behalf as a proxy.
To vote by post you must download, print, complete and return a Postal Vote Application Form.pdf [pdf] 103KB – the deadline has now passed and we cannot accept any new applications or changes to current postal votes for the UK Parliamentary election on 12 December 2019 . Find out more about voting by post.
If you will not be in the area on the day of the election and you do not have a current postal vote in place you can register to vote by proxy.
Please send applications to:
Arun District Council
Arun Civic Centre
When will I receive my polling card?
Poll cards will be sent out around 11 November 2019 to anyone registered to vote by 31 October. Anyone registered after that date will receive a poll card later on. If you have received a poll card you do not need to re-register.
We have had a number of queries relating to the poll cards that have been received by electors. Above the ‘your details’ section there is a code showing different address details, this a walksort code that is used by Royal Mail for delivering and is always included when poll cards are sent by post. This should be ignored as does not relate to the electoral register or an electors record. We would normally hand deliver poll cards so the code would not show, but due to the short notice of the election that is why the poll cards have been posted via Royal Mail.
Postal votes will be sent out first class around 27 November 2019 to anyone who has a postal vote arrangement in place by 7 November 2019. The final batch of postal votes will be sent out around 3 December 2019.
