Garden Waste

Update on Bonfires:

During the current Coronavirus pandemic with more people at home, having a garden bonfire, however tempting, would impact on a larger number of your neighbours than would normally be the case.

Smoke and smells from bonfires can aggravate respiratory problems such as asthma, bronchitis and COPD and affect those with heart complaints, causing breathing difficulties to those most vulnerable to Coronavirus.

Do not burn garden waste, paper, or any other waste, under any circumstances and be mindful of neighbours and fellow members of the community.

We are now operating a normal service for rubbish, recycling and garden waste collections.

Green Waste club:

All Green Waste Club collections are running as normal.
A chargeable garden waste collection service is available to Arun residents. Members of the Green Waste Club will receive a fortnightly collection of their garden waste and the hire of a wheelie bin for this purpose. All waste collected is composted at a local facility and used in the Earth Cycle compost range. This service is provided on behalf of Arun District Council by our contractors, Biffa. You can find out more and sign up to the scheme on the Green Waste Club website, or by telephoning 0800 0858 286. Garden waste can also be taken directly to your local household waste recycling centre.

Home composting:

All of your raw kitchen waste (such as vegetable peelings and egg shells) could be composted. You can also compost shredded paper and garden waste. To find out more about food waste digesters or home composting please follow the appropriate link.
