Community Safety Grant Fund returns to Arun after successful first round

Image shows interlocking hands. Text says: Community safety grant fund is back. The Safer Arun Partnership has announced a second round of its successful Community Safety Grant Fund. The first round of funding earlier this year was fully allocated within just six weeks due to high demand from local organisations.

The fund, which offers grants of up to £2,500, supports community-led projects that help make the district safer, reduce crime and antisocial behaviour, and protect vulnerable residents. The rapid uptake of the initial funding round demonstrated the strength of local community action and the number of innovative ideas being delivered across Arun to improve safety and wellbeing.

Applications are now open for the second round, with voluntary and community groups, charities, residents' associations, and youth organisations all encouraged to apply.

Councillor Alan Butcher, Chair of the Safer Arun Partnership, said:

“We were inspired by the response to the first round of funding, which clearly shows the appetite from local organisations to deliver projects that make a real difference in their communities.

We are delighted to be able to offer a second round of funding and would encourage groups of all sizes to come forward with their ideas to help keep Arun a safe and supportive place for everyone.”

Projects supported through the fund can focus on a wide range of community safety priorities, including:

  • reducing antisocial behaviour through diversionary or preventative activities
  • small-scale environmental improvements linked to safety and resilience
  • community engagement, awareness campaigns, or training sessions promoting safety and crime prevention
  • youth projects that provide safe spaces or positive activities
  • supporting vulnerable individuals at risk of harm or exploitation

The Safer Arun Partnership brings together partners from Arun District Council, Sussex Police, West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service, West Sussex County Council, the Probation Service, local health partners, and the Office of the Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner. Together, they are committed to making Arun a safer and more resilient place to live, work, and visit.

Funding will be awarded on a rolling basis until the available budget is fully allocated, and successful projects must be delivered by the end of March 2027.
