New Community Safety Grant Fund launched to support local projects across Arun
The Safer Arun Partnership has launched a new Community Safety Grant Fund, offering grants of up to £2,500 to local groups and organisations working to make the district safer for everyone.
The fund is designed to support community-led projects that improve feelings of safety, deter antisocial behaviour, reduce crime, and help protect vulnerable people from harm. Applications are welcomed from voluntary and community groups, charities, residents' associations, youth organisations, and any other bodies delivering activities within the Arun district.
Councillor Alan Butcher, Chair of the Safer Arun Partnership, said:
“Community safety is one of our key priorities, and we recognise the huge difference that local groups make in supporting safer, stronger neighbourhoods. This grant fund is an exciting opportunity to empower community organisations to deliver projects that help residents feel safe and supported. We encourage groups of all sizes to come forward with their ideas.”
Projects may focus on a wide range of community safety priorities, including but not limited to:
- reducing antisocial behaviour through diversionary or preventative activities
- small-scale environmental improvements linked to safety and resilience
- community engagement and awareness campaigns or training sessions promoting safety and crime prevention
- youth projects that create safe spaces or positive activities for young people
- supporting vulnerable individuals at risk of harm or exploitation
- pilot projects that test new approaches to safety
The Safer Arun Partnership includes representatives from Arun District Council, Sussex Police, West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service, West Sussex County Council, Probation Service, local health partners, and the office of the Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner. Working together, the partnership is focused on making Arun a safer and more resilient place to live, work, and visit.
Applications for the Community Safety Grant Fund are now open. Funding will be allocated on a rolling basis until the budget is fully awarded. Approved projects must be delivered by the end of March 2027.
