Temporary event notices (TEN)
If you run a business and plan to extend your hours for sale of alcohol and/or hot food after 11pm or any regulated entertainment over the Christmas and New Year period, a 'TEN' notice is required.
The last date for submission of a regular TEN for:
Christmas Eve - is Tuesday 9 December 2025
New Years Eve - is Friday 12 December 2025
If this deadline is missed it is possible to submit a late TEN by:
Christmas Eve - Tuesday 16 December 2025
New Years Eve - Friday 19 December 2025
Please note that late TENs will be refused without hearing if an objection is received. Therefore, we advise submitting TENs early to avoid disappointment.
Businesses and private individuals can apply for a TEN to enable them to hold small events which include licensable activities, including selling alcohol and playing music.
This is usually used by pubs to stay open in the evenings after the hours of current licence times, but it can also be used by the general public to put on events in community venues, such as village halls.
