Privacy notice abandoned vehicles

When you report an abandoned vehicle, we may collect:

• vehicle registration details
• location of the vehicle
• condition of the vehicle
• any known associations with the vehicle
• your name and contact details (optional)

We collect this information to:

• investigate and resolve reports of abandoned vehicles
• contact you if we need further details
• monitor patterns and trends in vehicle abandonment
• providing your personal details is optional. We can still investigate the issue without them, but they may help us follow up or take further action

Depending on where the vehicle is located, we may share relevant information with:

• Parks Team - if the vehicle is on parks land
• Housing Team - if on council housing land
• Car Parks Team - if in an Arun District Council car park

We only share information when necessary to resolve the issue or support enforcement.

We use the information to:

• investigate and remove abandoned vehicles
• maintain public safety and cleanliness
• analyse trends for service improvement
• support legal action where appropriate

We may use non-personal data for statistical purposes to identify hotspots or recurring issues.

• Reports are retained for up to 12 months.
• If a vehicle is destroyed, registered keeper details may be held for a further 12 months.

You have legal rights regarding the personal information we collect, including:

• accessing your data
• correcting inaccuracies
• requesting deletion
• objecting to processing
