Our land drainage byelaw consenting privacy notice explains how we use your personal information and tells you about your privacy rights and how the law protects you.

Information we collect

We will be asking you for your name, signature, address of the site and details of the works. Your email address and contact telephone number are also requested.

Why we collect this information

Under our Land Drainage Byelaws 2004, our consent is required for applicable works.   

Applications for consent request the inclusion of the name of the person who made the application or has an application made on their behalf.

Providing us with a name allows a more personal approach.

We need to be supplied with the address of the site so that we can accurately assess the application. We need to know where the works are taking place to determine if they need consent.

Supplying a contact telephone number and email address means we can contact you more quickly if we have any queries about your application. You don't have to give these - we're still able to consider your application without them.

You signature declares that the information supplied is true.

Who we might share your information with

Information will be recorded onto an internal database which may be accessed by staff working in this department. We may share your application with our other internal departments such a as  Land Charges. Externally we may share your application with West Sussex County Council who may have an interest in their role as the 'Local Lead Flood Authority'.

Your contact information will not be used in connection with your experience of our services and will not be used for marketing purposes.

What we do with your information

We use your information to administer your application and to ensure your works are carried out safely and within the law.

How long we keep your information

All information submitted as part of an application and the outcome are kept indefinitely as they form part of the history relating to the property.
