This privacy notice explains what personal information we collect when you request an additional 180‑litre general waste bin, why we need it, how we use it, how long we keep it, and who we may share it with.

Information we collect

To process your request, we may collect your name, address, email address, phone number, your reason for requesting an additional bin based on eligibility criteria, and details of people living in your household if needed to check eligibility.

Why we collect this information

We use this information to check whether you meet the eligibility criteria, contact you if we need more details, approve or decline your request, and deliver the additional bin if approved. We may also carry out property spot checks to confirm that the information provided is accurate.

Who we share your information with

We only share the information necessary to provide the service. Your address may be shared with Biffa, our waste contractor, so they can deliver the bin. Your name, contact details, and eligibility information are kept by the council and are not shared with anyone else.

What we do with your information

We use your information only for handling your request. This includes checking eligibility, carrying out spot checks, keeping correct service records, and ensuring bins are allocated fairly. We do not use your information for anything else.

How long we keep your information

We will keep your information for as long as your additional bin approval is active. After your approval ends, we will keep only the following information for up to 3 months: your address, the date your additional bin was approved, the reason you were approved, and your application or renewal history. We keep this information so we can check any future applications, avoid duplicate requests, maintain accurate records, and respond to complaints. After 3 months, this information will be deleted securely.
