Arun District Council considers future of key site in Bognor Regis

Internal view of proposed winter gardens, artist interpretation At a meeting of the Full Council on 18 July 2018, Arun District Council agreed that officers should work towards submitting a planning application for the 'winter gardens' concept previously agreed for the Regis Centre site.

This application would include the proposed winter gardens, a new theatre, restaurants, along with a multi-storey car park and some residential development to assist with funding.

The proposed hotel will be the subject of a separate application prepared by the intended occupier, who is yet to be determined.

The Council re-stated that, as landowner, it would not be entering into any binding legal agreements in relation to the recent granting of planning permissions for this site.

Arun District Council leader, Cllr Mrs Gillian Brown said ““The council has reaffirmed its support for the Bognor Regis Masterplan in March 2017 detailing how it would like key sites in Bognor Regis to be redeveloped as part of its exciting economic regeneration programme. On the Regis Centre site, as part of that inspiring vision, it was agreed to progress the Winter Gardens concept which will transform this important area of the town by linking the town centre and the seafront and generating future jobs.”
