Working closely in partnership with Arun District Council, the Littlehampton Heritage Railway Ltd team have taken on running the railway and are delighted to report that visitor numbers have been very promising and the number of volunteers working with them has also surpassed their hopes.

Nicholas Owen, a keen railway enthusiast delighted the crowds who attended the opening and said a few words before driving the train off to Norfolk gardens and back, as well as meeting some of the volunteers and visitors.

Chairman of Arun District Council, Cllr Stephen Haymes said “It has been an honour to attend today and see the train back in action. It is such a popular attraction for both Arun Residents and visitors alike. As the oldest 12¼ gauge track in Britain, it is so important to encourage people to visit and make the most of this little bit of history.”
