Come and have your say on new Hothamton plans

hothamton New plans for the Hothamton car park site in Bognor Regis have been unveiled and we want to know your thoughts.

In March of this year, Arun District Council agreed proposals for the ‘Gardens by the Sea’ regeneration scheme. This included the new ‘Winter Gardens’ on the Regis Centre site and redevelopment of the Hothamton car park.

The scheme for the Hothamton site in Queensway includes proposals for a new park, lined with trees.

The existing car park would be replaced with flexible parking spaces within ‘soft ‘landscaping’, such as grassed areas, gravel and trees, as the site is transformed, and link the town centre and seafront.

The Council is seeking the views of the public on the plans and is hosting a consultation event at the Alexandra Theatre, Regis Centre, Bognor Regis, on Friday, 13 October 2017.

Forming part of the Council’s wider regeneration aspirations for the town, the new plans will be exhibited at the event and Council officers and the consultancy team will be on hand to answer questions about the design ideas for the park.

Councillor Mrs Gillian Brown, Leader of Arun District Council and Cabinet Member for Economy, said: “This will be an opportunity for us to engage with the community and gather people’s thoughts and opinions on the scheme.

“We are very excited about the proposal which is to create an exciting new park, similar to a tree-lined continental market square. A location for all seasons where people will be able to relax, exercise, shop, browse, eat or be entertained – something to suit all ages and every mood.

“We welcome your views; reaction and feedback so it would be great to see lots of people come along to the event.”

The drop-in exhibition will be open between 11am and 3pm.
