Council launches Bognor Regis regeneration - 23rd Feb 2015

Arun District Council has announced how it will be undertaking the broadest public consultation that Bognor Regis has ever seen regarding the development of two key sites – the Regis Centre (including Place St Maur) and Hothamton Car Park. From next month, local residents from across the district will have the opportunity to provide their feedback to ensure that any forthcoming proposals will take into account the views of the people who live in, work in and visit Bognor Regis.

Public exhibitions will be held over three weeks in March at venues in Bognor Regis and across the Arun District to engage as many people as possible. Displays will also be provided at Bognor Regis Town Hall, the Bognor Regis Library and the Arun District Council Office in Littlehampton until the end of April. For those unable to attend, details will also be provided on the project website and residents will also be able to get in contact with the project team by phone, email or post.

Councillor Gillian Brown, Leader of Arun District Council, said:

“This is an exciting time for the whole of Arun and we look forward to receiving the feedback from the local community before bringing forward any specific proposals for these two key sites in Bognor Regis.

We have been pleased with the level of positive engagement that we have seen on this issue already since our initial call for ideas last year and we want to ensure that everybody has an opportunity to have their say before carrying out another phase of public consultation at a later stage.

We will be asking local residents what they would like to see on these sites and how they think it should be brought forward to ensure that any forthcoming plans have wide scale public support and are sustainable for the long term.

We have always made clear that doing nothing is not an option which is why we want to move ahead as quickly as possible and get started on such an exciting regeneration of Bognor Regis.”

The Council is advertising the dates for public exhibitions through the local press this week and details are also available on the project website.
