Grant given for village hall tables and chairs

Funding for replacement chairs and tableware at Ford and Yapton Village Hall has been agreed.

The Joint Downland Area Committee agreed £785 to be spent replacing 25 second hand chairs with arms and 80 sets of tableware.

Cllr Derek Ambler, Yapton and Ford Village Hall Committee Chairman, said: “I am grateful to the Joint Downland Area Committee has chosen to award this grant which allows a number of tables and chairs to be replaced.

“Yapton and Ford Village Hall is often used by many individuals and community organisations for events. Upgrading the tables and chairs will make events more pleasant and hopefully attract more people to use the hall.”

The Joint Downland Committee is comprised of councillors from Arun District Council, West Sussex County Council and town and parish councils. The committee decides on the amount of grants to give to community causes which help the Downland area.

Cllr Stephen Haymes, a Joint Downland Area Committee member, said: “It is a pleasure for the committee to be able to provide the funding for the replacement tables and chairs for Yapton and Ford Village Hall.

“I very much hope they come in useful for the many community events and meetings which take place at the hall.”
