Have your say on Council’s vision for Littlehampton

map Public consultation on emerging proposals for the second phase of work to transform Littlehampton will be held in March.

The consultation will focus on the seafront greens and promenade and links from Littlehampton town centre, to provide a better connection between the town, seafront and riverside.

This second phase will follow the design work already successfully undertaken in Littlehampton Town Centre.

Illustrations to show how the pedestrian route from the town centre to the seafront, the greens and riverside might look will be displayed during the three week consultation. The designs have been shaped by workshops held last year.

The conceptual proposals have been developed by LDA Design; Landscape Architects appointed to work with the Council to deliver the East Bank Public Realm Scheme and the recent design plans for Littlehampton town centre.

The consultation will run from Wednesday 8 March to Wednesday 29 March, 2017. Exhibition boards will be on display at an unmanned exhibition in the Arun Civic Centre reception, Littlehampton, throughout the consultation period.

A public exhibition will also take place on 23, 24, 25 March between 11am to 3pm at the Look & Sea Centre, 61-63 Surrey Street, Littlehampton, BN17 5AW, where the design team will be available to answer questions.

This design plans for the seafront have been developed in order to seek the views of the public and enable the Council to apply for external funding in the future to help deliver a new and exciting space for Littlehampton.

Councillor Mrs Gillian Brown, Leader of Arun District Council and Cabinet Member for Council strategy, said: “The vision we have for revitalising these public areas will make the town more vibrant and bring new investment to Littlehampton. The East Bank regeneration has proved extremely popular with locals and visitors alike, and we are confident that these planned improvements to other areas of the town will also be welcomed.

“However we need the views of residents, businesses and community groups to shape our vision and to help us put together an even stronger case when we are applying for external funding. So, please join in with the consultation to make sure the scheme reflects what you would like to see in your town.”

Both hard copies of the survey and an online version will be available from 8 March 2017 at www.arun.gov.uk/regeneration-in-littlehampton for those who wish to share their views. Further information will be available nearer the time.
