Ready for take-off! New council website set to launch

new website

We will soon be unveiling a new look website designed to help residents find what they need more easily.

The new design – set to launch at the end of July - puts the needs of our residents first, making it easier to access a service online and quickly find answers to your questions.

The modern design works across mobiles, tablets and computers – which means the same great service is available whenever or wherever it’s needed.

Council staff have worked hard to ensure that important information is easy to find and have rewritten hundreds of web pages into clear and simple to read text.

At least 1 in 5 people in the UK have a long-term illness, impairment or disability and the council has been building on work it began on the previous site to ensure that the new one is as accessible as possible for everyone.

This includes improving colour contrasts and fonts and making sure the site can be navigated using just a keyboard and will work with most screen reader software.

Residents have played a part in the new design by submitting photographs of Arun’s beauty spots via our Walking Throughout May campaign, many of which will feature on the new website.

Councillor Paul Dendle, Chair of the Corporate Support Committee at Arun District Council, said: “Throughout the pandemic more and more of our residents have been accessing our services online and telling us that in this digital age, having a good website is just as important to them as having council buildings, if not more.

“Our web team has worked extremely hard to make the website easy to use and to navigate and we are confident you will like the improvements we have made.”

The council will continue to update content on the new website – that can still be found at www.arun.gov.uk - over the coming months.
