Postal votes
Voting by post means you can vote without needing to visit your polling station on election day.
Postal votes can be sent to addresses in the UK and abroad.
If you wish to apply for a postal vote you can do this online.
You can also download a paper copy of the form here. If you have any questions please email elections@arun.gov.uk
The deadline for postal vote applications is 5pm, 11 working days before an election.
How to vote by post
If you have applied for a postal vote by the deadline, you will be sent a postal voting pack usually around two weeks before polling day.
Your postal voting pack will include:
- instructions about how to cast your vote and how to return the postal vote
- a postal vote statement
- two envelopes
- the ballot paper or papers for the elections taking place
You can watch this useful video about how to complete your postal vote correctly on YouTube.
Return your completed postal vote pack as soon as possible.
Changes to the law mean any postal votes not returned via Royal Mail must be accompanied by a return form. We must reject any postal votes which are hand delivered without the form being completed.
You can go to the reception at Arun Civic Centre, Maltravers Road, Littlehampton BN17 5LF during normal opening hours (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday – 9am to 4pm and Wednesday – 11am to 4pm). You will need to hand your postal vote(s) to an authorised member of staff and complete the necessary form which they will provide.
Or on polling day, you can hand postal votes in at a polling station for the relevant area, again a return form will need to be completed with a staff member.
