Standard 4 - Water quality
The water quality assessment must be accurate for the full site. Where different treatment trains are used in different parts of the site, it is expected that an assessment is submitted for each of them to demonstrate adequate water treatment.
In most cases the use of the simple index approach (as prescribed by The SuDS Manual) is adequate and supported. However, we highlight that for high-risk sites a detailed risk assessment is required. Sites where this is necessary include:
- haulage yards,
- lorry parks
- highly frequented lorry approaches to industrial estates
- waste sites
- industrial sites
- sites where chemicals and fuels (other than domestic fuel oil) are to be delivered, handled, stored, used or manufactured
