Understanding your bill

You will receive your Council Tax bill for the year ahead by the end of March.

You can sign up for paperless billing by using your online account if you have one. If you do not already have an account you will need to register.

If you do not manage your Council Tax online yet

You need to select the green button below to go to Citizen Access, our partner NEC hosts this URL which is safe to use.

Before you register you will need your Council Tax account details.

Once on Citizen Access you’ll need to:

  • select the 'if you do not have an account you can register here link
  • answer the onscreen questions
  • provide your email address
  • create a username and password
  • submit the form

After registering we will send you an activation email and you will need to follow the instructions within the email.

Once your account is active you can sign into your account with the details you set up.

If you manage your Council Tax online already

You can select the green button to go to Citizen Access.

Once on Citizen Access select the link 'if you already have an account you can sign-in here.'

You will need to input your username and password.

  1. This is found top right of the page underneath our address and shows the date your Council Tax was printed. Any payment made after this date will not be shown on this bill.
  2. Found directly underneath the date is your Council Tax Account number. You must tell us this number if you want to talk to us about your bill.

  3. Underneath the account number is the Council Tax band the property is in

  4. Underneath the Council Tax band is the address of the property address that the bill is for

  5. On the left-hand side of the bill is the details of the persons responsible for paying the bill and their correspondence address.

  6. The annual charge for the property for the financial year shown and also the percentage change from the previous year’s charges. It also shows your contributions towards Council Services, the fire service, police service and if applicable additional town or parish council charges.

  7. The total amount you must pay.

  8. Any discounts, exemptions, premiums that apply and any payments made towards this bill up to the issue date. You must tell us if there is any change of occupiers or if a discount no longer applies.

  9. How you pay your bill. If you pay by Direct Debit the bill will confirm that here. It also tells you the dates that we will collect your instalments.
