Privacy Notice

We collect information about you in order to provide you with the following service: provide a response in regard to feedback regarding our 2023 additional HMO licensing scheme proposal consultation.

Information we collect

We will be asking you for:

  • your personal details – name(s), e-mail address(es) and age band
  • general information regarding the property you live in
  • whether you live in Arun District and one of the wards included in the consultation (Marine, Hotham and River)
  • whether you are an owner-occupier, tenant, landlord, managing agent, business owner or other type of respondent
  • other information regarding housing, antisocial behaviour, and other related information in regard to the consultation

Why we collect this information

We will use the information:

  • to notify you that the consultation results have been published and are available to view on the council’s website
  • to analyse data for inclusion in the post-consultation report and to disseminate the data collected (no personal details will be published or shared in the report)
  • in some circumstances, to provide a response in regard to feedback or questions submitted regarding our 2023 Additional HMO Licensing scheme proposal

The legal basis for using some of this information is:

  • the Housing Act 2004

Who we might share your information with

We may share your personal information with:

  • other services within our organisation where there is a lawful purpose for sharing data. This might include an investigation by a regulatory function such as for the detection of fraudulent receipt of benefits
  • if we receive a request, under the Freedom of Information Act (FOI) or Environmental Information Regulations (EIR), to disclose information, they are obliged to do so unless the information is deemed exempt under the Act. We can only withhold information under FOI or EIR if the information falls under one of the exemptions (FOI) or exceptions (EIR) set out in legislation

What we do with your information

We will:

  • use and analyse the information obtained during the consultation to prepare a post-consultation report
  • data obtained will be published on the our website once the consultation period has finished and the data has been collated and analysed; however, no personal details will be shown on the website or included in other post-consultation documentation or reports
  • use your details for correspondence relating to the consultation where we are required to provide a response, or you have asked for a response
  • notify you that the consultation results have been published and are available to view on the our website

How long we keep your information

We will:

  • retain your personal details for up to 12 months after the consultation period has finished. General responses provided will be kept indefinitely
  • you have the right to request that this personal information be removed at a future date; however, this would mean that we would be unable to provide any feedback or response to you once removed. Requests for removal of the information should be sent in writing to Additional HMO Licensing, Private Sector Housing & Public Health, Arun District Council, Arun Civic Centre, Maltravers Road, Littlehampton, West Sussex BN17 5LF
