Due to planned maintenance some of our online services are currently unavailable. We expect them to be available again by the evening of Sunday 20 September 2026. We apologise for any inconvenience.
Following a review of our local Council Tax Reduction Scheme, it was determined that insufficient steps had been taken to safeguard claimants moving from Employment Support Allowance onto Universal Credit where they receive a Transitional Protection element within their Universal Credit award.
Accordingly, the claims of all affected customers have been amended, and the Transitional Protection element will now be disregarded for the purposes of calculating Council Tax Reduction.
Not everyone affected will see a change in their Council Tax Reduction award; your entitlement may remain the same.
If there is a change, a revised Council Tax bill will be issued to you under separate cover.
Benefits
Like the Department for Work and Pensions, the benefits department no longer offers a face-to-face service. All the information you should need can be found on these pages.
If you can't complete our online forms, you can ask a relative or friend to help you. If you have no-one who can help, email revenues.benefits@arun.gov.uk or call 01903 737753 for help (please note if you are not the direct claimant you need to follow our helping someone with a claim guide for us to speak with you on their behalf).
